Questions about AfterRushes, from India
What it does, the free first film, credits and paying from India, Hindi speech, multi-day weddings, and what computer you need.
The app
What does AfterRushes do?
It turns a wedding’s raw camera cards into a finished highlight film and a vertical teaser, on your own computer. It watches every second of footage, finds the moments that matter (the vows, the speeches, the first dance, the confetti), writes the story of the day with AI, then cuts it to the music. You review it, ask for changes in plain English, and export.
Who is it for?
Wedding photographers who don’t edit video. You shoot stills professionally and capture some video on a second body, a gimbal or a phone, but you don’t want to become a video editor to turn it into a film. Solo wedding videographers use it for a fast first cut and quick social teasers, so they can spend their time on the craft.
What do I get from each wedding?
- A highlight film of 3 to 15 minutes, at 1920×1080.
- A 30 or 60 second vertical teaser for Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts, at 1080×1920, with each shot framed around faces.
- An optional speeches edit.
- A captions file (.srt).
Each film comes in a cinematic, documentary or upbeat style, with the sound levelled for streaming.
Does the AI edit the whole film for me?
It makes the first cut. You make it yours: move, trim or delete shots, accept one-click suggestions, or type requests like “make the opening slower” or “use the second song”. Undo is always there, and only the shots that changed re-render. See making an AI first cut your own.
What music can I use?
The band or DJ recorded on the day, when the recording is clean enough, or your own licensed track. You’re responsible for having the right to use the music. Our guide to music for wedding films explains what to check.
What footage does it work with?
Camera cards and folders from several cameras and phones at once. It rejoins recordings the camera split into parts, skips junk files and copies, and converts iPhone HDR video to normal colour automatically. Footage shot at 50 or 60 frames per second plays as slow motion. Support for camera log profiles (S-Log3, C-Log, D-Log M), multi-camera sync and separate audio recorders is coming.
Can my photos go in the film?
Yes. AfterRushes uses the photos in your card folders too (JPEG, PNG and HEIC). The AI looks at each one and can put the best into the film as a shot with a slow zoom, or over someone talking. It doesn’t read RAW files, so export JPEGs from your photo editor into the folder.
Can I open the edit in Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve?
Not yet. AfterRushes exports finished films today. Export to Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve, with every film as an editable sequence linked to your original footage, is coming.
Will my films look generic?
AfterRushes is built around a wedding day: getting ready, the ceremony, the vows, the speeches, the first dance, the party. It lays the couple’s own words over the film and can use the band from the day as the soundtrack, so every film is made from that wedding. You choose the style, and you have the final say on every shot.
Buying and using it in India
Can I pay in rupees?
Prices are in US dollars, and Stripe charges in dollars: credits start at $15 (about ₹1,420) for 1,000 credits, and the lifetime licence is $149 (about ₹14,100) once. The rupee figures are a guide at today’s rate; your bank converts at its own rate and may add a foreign-transaction fee. Your card needs international online payments switched on, which most banking apps let you do in a minute.
Will an Indian card work?
Credit packs and the lifetime licence are single payments, so there’s no e-mandate to set up: your card just needs international online payments switched on. Flex, the monthly plan, is different: it’s a recurring international payment, which Indian banks handle under RBI’s e-mandate rules, and some cards decline them.
Does it work with Hindi?
The app is in English. The speech can be in Hindi: AfterRushes works out the main language spoken at the wedding and transcribes it on your computer, so the lines it lays over the film come from what was really said. Weddings that switch between several languages transcribe less reliably, so check the lines it picks before you deliver.
Can it handle a three-day wedding?
Yes. Add the folders from every function, from every camera and phone, and AfterRushes works through them in the background. Time grows with the footage: on our 15-minute test wedding the analysis took about 11 minutes on a 2017 Intel i7, so a wedding with many hours of footage takes hours, and is best left running overnight. The highlight film is 3 to 15 minutes. A typical wedding uses 300–1,000 credits. A multi-day wedding with more clips uses more. AfterRushes shows what a job will use before it starts.
Your account and the free film
Is the first film really free?
Yes. Your free account comes with 500 credits for your first film: up to 100 clips, changes included. No card needed. Download AfterRushes and give us your email address, and your key arrives by email. The free credits expire 30 days after you sign up. There’s one free film per computer and per email address, and it ends on a short “Made with AfterRushes” card.
Do I need an account?
A free one, made from your email address, with no password. Your key is your sign-in and holds your credits. It arrives by email when you download AfterRushes, and you paste it into the app. The email’s “Open in AfterRushes” button fills it in for you.
What happens after the free film?
Buy credits to keep making films: $15 (about ₹1,420) for 1,000 credits, and a typical wedding uses 300–1,000 credits. Bought credits never expire. Buy them in AfterRushes, or on the credits page with the same email address, so they land on your account.
Privacy
Does my footage get uploaded anywhere?
No. All the video work happens on your computer, and your video files, edits and finished films stay there. Only still frames from each clip, your photos and the transcript of what was said go to the AI to plan the film. Where your footage goes shows the whole picture.
What does the AI see?
Still frames from each clip, your photos and the transcript of what was said. With credits, they pass through our server to Anthropic without being stored. With your own Claude key, they go straight from your computer to Anthropic.
What do you receive?
Your email address and licence details and, if you allow it, anonymous usage statistics such as how many clips a wedding had and how long the edit took. Never footage, names or transcripts.
Price and credits
Is there a subscription?
No. AfterRushes is free to download, and you buy credits for the AI when you need them: packs from $15 (about ₹1,420) for 1,000 credits, and bought credits never expire. Or buy the lifetime licence once ($149) and use your own Claude key. If you’d rather pay monthly, Flex is $19.95 a month, with your own Claude key.
How much does the AI cost per wedding?
A typical wedding uses 300–1,000 credits: $4.50–$15 (₹430–1,420) at the 1,000-credit price, and less with the bigger packs. A wedding of 120 clips uses about 450 credits; one of 400 clips about 1,050. AfterRushes shows its estimate before every job.
Do credits expire?
Bought credits never expire. The 500 free credits for your first film expire 30 days after you sign up, and they’re used first.
Can I use my own Claude key instead?
Yes, with the lifetime licence ($149 once, limited to 100 copies) or Flex ($19.95 a month). You then pay Anthropic directly for the AI you use, and the still frames, photos and transcripts go straight from your computer to Anthropic.
How do I get a Claude key?
You only need one with the lifetime licence or Flex. It takes about five minutes: create an Anthropic account, add credit, create a key, and paste it into AfterRushes. The pricing page walks through it.
Can I use it for several weddings a week?
Yes. Each wedding uses its own credits, and AfterRushes shows what a job will use before it starts.
Your computer
What computer do I need?
A PC running Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit), or a Mac with Apple silicon or an Intel processor. 16 GB of RAM is recommended, with plenty of free space on a fast drive for working files. Any graphics card works. See the download page.
Is there a Mac version?
Yes, for Macs with Apple silicon (M1 and later) and Macs with an Intel processor. Both are signed and notarised by Apple, so they open normally. Which Mac do you have?
Is AfterRushes in other languages?
Yes: English, German and Brazilian Portuguese. It follows your computer’s language, and you can change it in Settings → Language. The AI writes the title, the end card and the chapter names in the language spoken at the wedding, and its notes and replies in the app’s language.
How long does it take?
On our test wedding (26 clips, 15 minutes of footage), the local analysis took about 11 minutes on a 2017 Intel i7, including a one-time download, and the AI steps added a few minutes more. Time grows with the amount of footage, and it all runs in the background.
How do updates work?
AfterRushes updates itself. It checks for a new version when it starts and every few hours, downloads it in the background, and installs it when you quit or choose to restart.
Why does Windows ask me to confirm the installer?
The installer is signed by AxixOS Operations Ltd, but Windows SmartScreen can still ask for confirmation while a new signature builds its reputation. Check that the publisher shown is AxixOS Operations Ltd, then choose More info and Run anyway. Only do this for an installer downloaded from afterrushes.com.
