FAQ

Questions about AfterRushes

What it does, where your footage goes, what the AI costs, and what computer you need.

The app

What does AfterRushes do?

It turns a wedding’s raw camera cards into a finished highlight film and a vertical teaser, on your own computer. It watches every second of footage, finds the moments that matter (the vows, the speeches, the first dance, the confetti), writes the story of the day with AI, then cuts it to the music. You review it, ask for changes in plain English, and export.

Who is it for?

Wedding photographers who don’t edit video. You shoot stills professionally and capture some video on a second body, a gimbal or a phone, but you don’t want to become a video editor to turn it into a film. Solo wedding videographers use it for a fast first cut and quick social teasers, so they can spend their time on the craft.

What do I get from each wedding?
  • A highlight film of 3, 5 or 8 minutes, at 1920×1080.
  • A 30 or 60 second vertical teaser for Reels, TikTok and Shorts, at 1080×1920, with each shot framed around faces.
  • An optional speeches edit.
  • A captions file (.srt).

Each film comes in a cinematic, documentary or upbeat style, with the sound levelled for streaming.

Does the AI edit the whole film for me?

It makes the first cut. You make it yours: move, trim or delete shots, accept one-click suggestions, or type requests like “make the opening slower” or “use the second song”. Undo is always there, and only the shots that changed re-render. See making an AI first cut your own.

What music can I use?

The band or DJ recorded on the day, when the recording is clean enough, or your own licensed track. You’re responsible for having the right to use the music. Our guide to music for wedding films explains what to check.

What footage does it work with?

Camera cards and folders from several cameras and phones at once. It rejoins recordings the camera split into parts, skips junk files, and converts iPhone HDR video to normal colour automatically. Footage shot at 50 or 60 frames per second plays as slow motion. Support for camera log profiles (S-Log3, C-Log, D-Log M), multi-camera sync and separate audio recorders is coming.

Will my films look generic?

AfterRushes is built around a wedding day: getting ready, the ceremony, the vows, the speeches, the first dance, the party. It lays the couple’s own words over the film and can use the band from the day as the soundtrack, so every film is made from that wedding. You choose the style, and you have the final say on every shot.

Privacy

Does my footage get uploaded anywhere?

No. All the video work happens on your computer, and your video files, edits and finished films stay there. Only still frames from each clip and the transcript of what was said go to the AI to plan the film. Where your footage goes shows the whole picture.

What does the AI see?

Still frames from each clip and the transcript of what was said. With your own key, they go straight from your computer to Anthropic. For the free first film they pass through our server to Anthropic without being stored.

What do you receive?

Your account and licence details and, if you allow it, anonymous usage statistics such as how many clips a wedding had and how long the edit took. Never footage, names or transcripts.

Price and AI cost

Is there a subscription?

No. AfterRushes is a one-time purchase ([Price to confirm]). The AI is paid for with your own Claude key, directly to Anthropic, at cost.

How much does the AI cost per wedding?

On our 26-clip test wedding the AI cost $0.55 to $0.66. We estimate about $3 for 150 clips and about $8 for 500 clips. Claude Sonnet 5.5 costs about half as much as the default, Claude Opus 5.5.

Why do I use my own Claude key?

So you pay Anthropic directly for what you use, with no markup and no credits to buy from us. It also means the still frames and transcripts go straight from your computer to Anthropic.

How do I get a Claude key?

It takes about five minutes: create an Anthropic account, add credit, create a key, and paste it into AfterRushes. The pricing page walks through it.

What if Anthropic changes its prices?

You pay Anthropic’s current price directly, so any change is theirs, not ours. We don’t add anything on top.

Is the first film really free?

Yes. Your first film is free, AI included, for a film of up to 8 minutes. You don’t need a Claude key for it.

Can I use it for several weddings a week?

Yes. The AI cost is per wedding.

Your computer

What computer do I need?

A PC running Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit. We recommend an NVIDIA graphics card (it’s faster), [RAM to confirm] of RAM, and plenty of free space on a fast drive for working files. See the download page.

How long does it take?

On our test wedding (26 clips, 15 minutes of footage) it took about 7 minutes from camera card to finished preview films, AI included, on a PC with an NVIDIA graphics card. On a 2017 Intel i7 without GPU acceleration, the local analysis took about 11 minutes (including a one-time download), and the AI steps added a few minutes more. Time grows with the amount of footage, and it all runs in the background.

Is there a Mac version?

Not yet. A Mac version is coming. Join the Mac waitlist and we’ll email you once when it’s ready.

Why does Windows ask me to confirm the installer?

Windows SmartScreen asks for confirmation before running installers it doesn’t recognise yet. Choose More info, then Run anyway. Only do this for an installer downloaded from AfterRushes.com.

Still wondering?

The quickest answer is your own footage. Your first film is free, AI included.
