Animation of AfterRushes at work: clips from three camera cards are read, checked every half second for sharpness, shake and faces, and unusable clips are set aside. Speech is transcribed and the music’s beats are found. The AI tags the moments of the day, the best shots are cut to the beat on a timeline with the music dipping under the vows, and the result exports as a 16:9 highlight film, a 9:16 teaser and a captions file.

00:00:04:00A sample wedding

35 clips in. Two finished films out.

Built in 4 minutes.

We gave AfterRushes 35 stock clips of a church wedding filmed by Pavel Danilyuk, 10.2 minutes of footage with no sound. It made a 3:06 cinematic highlight film in seven chapters and a 0:31 vertical teaser, both silent. The AI cost $0.68 to date. A photographer would still review the cut and make it theirs.

00:00:08:00The problem

“I don’t want to become a video editor.”

  • “Three days. Four cameras. A terabyte of footage.”

Every function, from every shooter, and no time to sit with it in an editor.

  • “My editor is booked till the season ends.”

Films queue up for weeks while the next weddings come in.

  • “The couple wants the teaser by tomorrow.”

On Instagram, while the guests are still talking about it.

  • “Uploading a terabyte isn’t an option.”

Cloud editors want the whole wedding uploaded first.

00:00:21:12How it works

You already let AI cull your photos. Now let it cut your film.

  1. 1

Add the cards from every function

Point AfterRushes at the folders from every camera and phone. It reads several cameras at once, rejoins recordings the camera split into parts and skips junk files.

  2. 2

    AfterRushes watches every second

It checks every half second for sharpness, shake and faces, transcribes the speech and finds the music’s beats. All on your computer.

  3. 3

    The AI writes your film

Claude, Anthropic’s AI, reads still frames, photos and the transcript, logs each clip’s best moments and writes the story of the wedding.

  4. 4

    Review, tweak, export

Ask for changes in plain English, or move, trim and delete shots yourself. Then export the film, the teaser and the captions.

00:01:12:08Your footage stays with you

Nothing to upload. Not one clip.

Cloud AI video tools make you upload the whole wedding before they can start, and a multi-day wedding can run to a terabyte. AfterRushes does all the video work on your own computer. Only still frames, photos and transcripts go to the AI.

What the AI noticed, on one timeline: the moments of the day, the lines worth keeping, and the music dipping under the vows and the toasts. An illustration, with stills from stock footage.
  • The words over the music

It finds the speeches, toasts and vows and lays the best lines over the film, with the music dipping under them. They can be in Hindi.

  • The music from the day

It can use the band or DJ recorded on the day as the soundtrack, when the recording is clean enough.

  • Faces kept in frame

The vertical teaser frames each shot around faces, so nobody loses their head in 9:16.

  • Cuts on the beat

Cuts land on the beat, shots skip blurred and shaky seconds, and 50 or 60 fps footage plays as slow motion.

  • Your photos, too

It uses the JPEGs in your folders as well, and can put the best into the film with a slow zoom.

  • Every camera at once

Footage from every shooter and phone goes into one project, so the whole team’s angles are in the film.

00:02:04:00You stay in charge

No editing skills needed. You still get the final say.

  • Ask for changes in plain English, like “make the opening slower” or “use the second song”.
  • Accept one-click suggestions.
  • Prefer hands-on? Move, trim or delete any shot on the timeline.
  • Undo is always there, and only the shots that changed re-render.

Matt Jones, who made AfterRushes

00:03:20:04Who made it

Built by a wedding photographer.

Matt Jones shoots weddings and built AfterRushes to edit their own films.

I’ve photographed weddings since 1997, starting on Hasselblad transparency in a Brighton high-street studio, and more than 20,000 families since, in South Africa and in Vienna. I’ve paid for every editing tool and every subscription, and none of them finished the job, so I built the one that does: camera cards in, a finished film out, on your own computer.

Why we built AfterRushes

00:04:02:12Questions

Asked most often.

All questions
Does my footage get uploaded anywhere?

No. All the video work happens on your computer, and your video files, edits and finished films stay there. Only still frames from each clip, your photos and the transcript of what was said go to the AI to plan the film. Where your footage goes shows the whole picture.

Can it handle a three-day wedding?

Yes. Add the folders from every function, from every camera and phone, and AfterRushes works through them in the background. Time grows with the footage: on our 15-minute test wedding the analysis took about 11 minutes on a 2017 Intel i7, so a wedding with many hours of footage takes hours, and is best left running overnight. The highlight film is 3 to 15 minutes. A typical wedding uses 300–1,000 credits. A multi-day wedding with more clips uses more. AfterRushes shows what a job will use before it starts.

Can I pay in rupees?

Prices are in US dollars, and Stripe charges in dollars: credits start at $15 (about ₹1,420) for 1,000 credits, and the lifetime licence is $149 (about ₹14,100) once. The rupee figures are a guide at today’s rate; your bank converts at its own rate and may add a foreign-transaction fee. Your card needs international online payments switched on, which most banking apps let you do in a minute.

Is the first film really free?

Yes. Your free account comes with 500 credits for your first film: up to 100 clips, changes included. No card needed. Download AfterRushes and give us your email address, and your key arrives by email. The free credits expire 30 days after you sign up. There’s one free film per computer and per email address, and it ends on a short “Made with AfterRushes” card.

Does it work with Hindi?

The app is in English. The speech can be in Hindi: AfterRushes works out the main language spoken at the wedding and transcribes it on your computer, so the lines it lays over the film come from what was really said. Weddings that switch between several languages transcribe less reliably, so check the lines it picks before you deliver.
